Armenia

After the big city and saying goodbye to Lisa again I went with the nightbus to Armenia. The bus took about ten hours. I had time enough to finish my book. I liked it (Das Café am Rande der Welt von John Strelecky).

As always, short information about Armenia:
Armenia is the capital of Quindio Departmentof Quindio. It is one of the main centers of the national economy and of the Colombian coffee growing axis. Armenia is a medium-sized city with about 300.000 inhabitans and part of the “coffee triangle” with Pereira and Manizales.
The city of Armenia is located 290 kilometers southwest of Bogotá at a height of 1,483m and I said it already, for me it was a stopover to Salento.
I have to say, Armenia was the first city I visited in Southamerica where I was a little bit scared. I felt uncomfortable, the views of the locals were unusual. In the hostel and in the restaurant, the employees told me also many places and areas to avoid. So I was a bit biased but nothing happened!

There is not much to do in Armenia. You can go to the city, to take a walk by yourself, visit the Quindío Botanical Garden, or go to the Parque Nacional del Café (it is a funpark). I chose the first two options.
The city tour by myself took only two, three hours. And you will see it at the photos, it is not such a beautiful city.
The botanical garden was wonderfull. I had to take a guide, only in spanish. I understood more than the other tours but far away from everything =) For that, I enjoyed the plants and animals even more. It was a wonderfull half day trip.
Back to the city, ate something and after that I moved on. Next stop was Salento.

I almost forgot a funny story. After the lunch and after the paying there, three employees and the boss of the restaurant came to me. They asked me if I wanted to kidding them because the twenty mil pessos bank not was a flower, fake =) I had to eplxplain it =)
But everything went well, in the end we even had fun and drank a beer together. All’s well that ends well.
I had totally three flowers in my pocket. I successfully spent two flowers for a busticket and for something to eat at the Supermarket*yeeeesssss* and I will bring one fake bank note to Austria =)
