IQUITOS / AMAZONAS

I woud say that the start was not perfect =) We came one hour bevor take off to the airport. I know it is to late, but we got into a traffic jam and the check out in the hostel was also late. Unfortunately, the check in at the airport was closed. We booked an other flight, take off was two hours later. During the flight I had some idees.
– It would have been better if one person had flown with the actually flight. The other person and the two luggages are flying with an other flight. Or…
– We should have taken the flight and send the luggage with the next flight.
But during the hot phase you cannot think normal!! It doesn´t metter, we came to Iquitos healthy =)

We took a TucTuc to our hostel near the oldtown. Iquitos is a really dirty jungletwon, the air is extrem bad. The exhaust gases from the TucTucs are extrem. Iquitos is known as the “capital of the Peruvian Amazon”. The city is located in the great plains of the Amazon Basin, fed by the Amazon, Nanay and Itaya rivers. It is the largest city in the world with about 500.000 inhabitans that cannot be reached by road – it is accessible only by river and air.
After the check in we ate something and went to an expidition office. The guy there was really friendly. We booked a three day tour.
With all our backpacks went Lisa and I to the port. First with a fast boat and after with a smoth boat to our little city. You will see it on the photos, nice small city =) =) We were a four people group plus our tour guide. Mexico, Argentina, Germany, Peru and Austria, it was a nice small group. I made really good friends there, thanks for the nice time there!!
We did some cool activities there. A day walk with many information about trees, shrubs, plants and their medical us and also about many animals.
We also did a night walk. Many spiders and insects came at night out. For me it was an overcoming.
We went out by boat one night, we wanted to find caymans. We only saw four sparkling eyes and one little wather snake, a bo =) but still it was a great experience!!
We went out for fishing for half a day. More specifically, we wanted to catch piranias. I had no luck but Lisa catched two piranias. In total we caught about five fishes that we ate two hours later and I have to say, piranias taste good, tender.
One half day we drove with the boat to find pink dolphins. It only worked partially =) sometimes we saw a back or a small fin but it was not the wooohhhhh effect =)
And one half day we drove with the boat to the neighboring city. It was soooo funny there because we played a footballgame. four vs four. The whole city has watched the game, we wone 6:4 =) juhuuuu
I also did an old ritual with a shaman. But I had no effect, the shaman reason was “I have a cold body” =) ok, next topic =)

It was a morning in the jungle. After the wake up I wanted to go to the breakfast. I went out of the room and direction to my shoes. But close to my shoes went a tarantula. I had to wait until she passed =)
There were also many of mosquitos there. Without mosquito repellent you would die there =) We also saw many kinds of insects, spiders, cockroach, one snike, many birds and some fishes.

It was a wonderful brief insight into this beautiful part of the earth. It is also nice to see how people live there, limited to basic needs. No easier life, but a less stressful life. Whithout facebook, Insta or WhatsApp.
